At the opening of Krentz’s disappointing latest featuring the Arcane Society—a covert organization devoted to paranormal research—costume. A woman who hears voices. A man who sees visions. A killer who may elude them both.

Raine is a strong female lead, and her chemistry with Zack was undeniable. I guess this could be good for the lonely housewife that wants to read some sort of sexy romance novel with a plot. Highly recommended as per usual with JAK’s books. Krentz’s typically well-written characters with strong women who allow for Alpha tendencies in their accepting, respecting men.

Once again, Krentz excels with her dialogue and characterization. Perhaps if eight or nine of those threads had been eliminated, the story might have interested me.

Sizzle and Burn (Arcane Society, book 3) by Jayne Ann Krentz

Raine is attracted to this agent who also has psychic abilities. The missing scientist was apparently working on that same drug. And that is all that matters. Aug 02, Kari Chapman rated it really liked it Shelves: That’s what happened when she made the mistake of revealing her paranormal abilities, bringing her most recent romantic relationship to a hasty end.

It should be noted that it is not necessary to read the series in order.

I winced a little bit at the “meant to be” vibes, but I set those aside after the two of them started working together and proving that they would have been compatible with each other, paranormal senses or not. Leave A Comment Cancel reply Comment.

Thaddeus, on assignment for jjayne secretive Arcane Society, knows the menace Leona is courting by absconding with the crystal. And he’s seen this way by everyone, including the heroine. Raine and Zack were great characters, both with their own unique traits, and a wonderfully compatible relationship. Raine went to Shelbyville, WA at the request of real estate agent Doug Spicer to clean out her house in order to list the property for sale even though it would probably be hard to sell due to the fact that everyone in town seemed to know that it had belonged to a ‘crazy’ person.

A good addition to the series. Dreamlight Trilogybook 2 Amanda Quick.

Sizzle and Burn (Arcane Society, #3) by Jayne Ann Krentz

But Leona shows no trace of hysteria in his presence. They wanted Raine to work with Bradley to conduct research for a book. Raine went through the belongings of her aunt and found ajyne cryptic note. So I sheepishly finished.

About Jayne Ann Krentz. Raine Tallentyre travels to a small town in Washington after her aunt dies under mysterious circumstances. Zack Jones is working for the Arcane Ahn.

Sizzle and Burn

Zack and Raine together investigate the serial killer and other murders taking place. I love that Raine has a signature “screw you” smile–it makes for a great strong heroine in a sea of testosterone in this book. They had the drug taken away and Cassidy killed herself. When her father also died two others helped her Aunt during her downward slide to madness. The mystery here was interesting, but I thought it was a little drawn out for most of the book, and then wrapped up too quickly at the end.

A new man then enters Raine’s life – investigator Zack Jones. He was not trying to make more of the drug for an illegal market. And now that poor Aunt Vella-her last blood relative-has died, Raine has resigned herself to a lonely life.
