However there was no chance of a commercial English translation, the book effectively being a derivative of Tolkien’s LoTR, due to potential legal issues with Tolkien Estate.

I have a lot of thinkful thoughts about the racial representations, and history being written by the victors, and resistance movements, but I think I will handwave at them for now. I would do it for free of course, because I love the book, but in my capacity as a professional illustrator I can work with you to come up with something closer to what you see in your heads.


The remainder of the novel is a confusing account of their efforts to fulfill the mission divided into four parts that focus on various aspects of the quest.

Parts are a bit difficult to follow – when the various secret services are battling it out in Umbar, I found it somewhat difficult to work out who was on which side.
